Dinner at King Crab Seafood Restaurant!

Few months back during the World Cup season, we went for dinner at King Crab Seafood Restaurant. Its along LDP highway opposite Kelana Jaya LRT station. I’ve passed by it often enough but have never set foot in there before.

Finally i did after all these years. A delightful surprise as the food was good and prices reasonable. The dinner meetup was also to meet Chee Heng’s wife-to-be then :)

We asked the captain for recommendations and in the end ordered about 6 dishes in total.

Of all the 6 dishes, the salted-egg deep fried sotong was THE BEST. I have yet to taste anything elsewhere that beats this. Sensational as it is, it is only to be eaten when your cholesterol goes on a holiday. :P

On with the food pics! Here’s one place for you to go this long weekend for food!

World Cup in progress…

‘GOa….aiya….wasted..’

‘harro…’

The BOSS.

Oh yeah man..nothing like the single finger salute to kickstart dinner..:P

Fried rice noodle with Crab. I rate this 6/10

Spinach, Century and Salted egg in Superior Soup. I rate this 8/10

I think it was Guinness Pork Ribs. I rate this 7/10

Steamed Patin. I rate this 7/10

Butter-Cheese Crab. I rate this 9/10 :)

Deep friend salted-egg sotong. I rate this…11/10 :D Its seriously f**cking awesome!

And thats about it for this food blogpost.

Have a good weekend, good holiday, and Selamat Hari Raya to all my Muslim friends!

Those on the road, ALWAYS BE SAFE! :)

Off to Kota Kinabalu tomorrow. See you guys next week!

My 24hours in HongKong

Ahhh…2nd day in HongKong and also the last. We couldn’t do ourselves justice if we didnt have dimsum for breakfast so we headed to Lin Heung DimSum restaurant thats in our list and also the easier one to get to.

It didnt look like there was a lotta people but when we entered, geez…we really were lost tourist with Zer0 idea of whats happening or how to even sit down.

One kind aunty at a nearby table saw us totally lost and signaled to us and said ‘lei dei chor li dou la…’ (you guys sit here) and we planted our asses on this small table and was soon joined by another couple. Everyone seemed to share tables here. The space is tighter than it looks so the next food pic is from me iPhone hehe..:P

Sorry, we were so hungry plus the environment seemed a bit tensed we just ate quickly and scooted.

Out from the packed restaurant, we made our way to Wong Tai Sin temple. But before that, we just walked around and got a feel of what HK morning market is like. Really feels like i was in a tvb scene!..:D

Searched high and low for this eggtart shop and finally found it!

If you like eggtarts, come here or go jump from central pier :P

Pacific Coffee Company came to Puchong earlier this year and it was good to see it in its motherland. It was everywhere and this outlet struck me with its facade :)

Don’t mind one camho pic of myself with HK in the background. It was cloudy throughout my whole trip here which was good as it was rainy season. So yay to the weatherman.

Someone wishing for career and love luck worr….:P

After taking this pic, the fortune teller placed a sign in front of my face that says ‘No Photos’. I dont know why he couldnt be more polite and just tell me. :S

After the whole temple gig we headed back to hustle and bustle. Kowloon and Ladies Street. Similar to our Petaling Street but much more vibrant!

Stopped by some random shop cos i saw GuaiLinGou. Must try lah since in HK…

Got back to the hotel for a short rest. And had these mouth watering egg tarts…OMG…

Off topic for a bit: I must commend the staff of MetroPark  Hotel Kowloon for returning my purchase from Coach which i carelessly left in the lobby. They went through the hassle of looking back at the cctv footage to see who left it there and then called my room to confirm. Thumbs up for good service!

Time to hit the night markets. We were still full from the earlier snacks but we had to have some roasted pork and goose so here it is. I think any random shop is good. I mean, how bad can it be in HK? :)

So we realized that Kowloon’s really bright at night. The billboards and signage lights pretty much light up the scene wherever we walked. :)

The ever famous curry fishballs of HK.  The curry sauce is good, but the fishballs i prefer the bouncier type though.

After having them balls, we head of for the harbour where the best view of Hongkong is. I actually came mainly for this!

1881 was near the pier and besides being no prime land, the shops are really prime too.

The view here is spectacular. And there are lightshows too at night. We were there for almost an hour. It was just stellar and i finally got my view of Hongkong :D

After this we walked around a bit more and called it a night.

Had something to eat in the AM while we still had a bit of time before leaving for the airport. Polo Bun. Its Okay la…

At the airport, i finally had my porridge cos the shop we wanted to go was closed the night we wanted to go. Bummer. But the porridge at the airport wasnt too bad. :P

Saw this little cute car by TATA in the runway area while we’re waiting to board. Seriously i’d buy one and drive it around town.

Typical waiting scene while waiting for the plane. Whilte we were still so excited about Hongkong and cant wait to be back, somebody was already waiting for souvenirs. ;)

That concludes my short trip to HK. Vibrant, exciting, energetic and lotsa good looking people. I’ll be back!

The first 12 of my 36hrs in HongKong!

Finally my blogpost to HongKong. Sorry it took forever cos i got a lil lazy..hehe :P

HongKong. We spent a total of only 36 hours there as it was a extended trip from its northern neighbour. The vibrancy and pace of HongKogn is a great pull for me to go back there again for another visit. So… 36 hours excluding sleeping time. What did we do?

As much as we could of course!

I was plastered from an alcohol infused party the night before so I do look a bit off in some of the earlier pics. Man…what a party that was. But thats a different story. :)

KJ and I got off at Kowloon MTR station and started walking towards our hotel. 15 mins later, we realized we got off the wrong stop and had to walk further. Given my hangover, I didnt welcome that at all. But after 30mins, we arrived at MetroPark Hotel, Kowloon. We dropped our stuff, freshened up and off we went. I had to hand the map over to KJ to lead the way as I was just to knackered. The hotel had this shuttle service which was awesome. We took it to the pier and that was the start of our short HongKong adventure.

The front of The Peninsular is laden with green Rolls-Royce. Never have i seen so many of them RRs in one spot.

Walked into a underpass to get to Star Ferry Pier. A ferry service thats also a legacy.

As i was in the ferry, there was this small sense of belonging in HK. Prob cos it used to be where my forefathers came from. Where everyone was a citizen in their own right.

As we approached Central Pier, i couldnt wait to get off and cover as much as we could! :)

As we exited the pier terminal, i saw no.7! My fav number of all time heh heh..

Next few pics is gonna be what i saw as we walked our way to central in search for our lunch.

Finally we found the street of where LUNCH is supposed to be found. It was a long walk down & uphill from here.

Heck! We finally found it. We were so starving by then and i really needed a place to sit…HK makes you walk A LOT.

I was in a whatever mode…

He wanted to order everything…

HongKong Lurvee

After lunch we made our way to The Peak…where we actually wasted too many hours due to the weather being too cloudy.

But i guess it was worth it. :)

The taxis i used to watch on TVB series aint take. They’re really all over the place!

It was so cloudy at Victoria Peak that we had no choice but to wait till nightfall and hoped for the best. So we walked around the mall and thanks to free wifi from HK govt we were able to entertain ourselves via our phones too.

Escalators after escalators to the top!

Victoria Peak overlooking HongKong. It was still cloudy and this was the best pic i could get. :(

After about half an hour, we made our way down to the ever famous, Lan Kwai Fong to get a feel of HK by night. :)

No food pics of dinner cos it was just burgers and fish&chips. Seems LKW is filled with western food. Not to mention this area really is a place for foreigners.

After dinner we walked around a bit more before calling it a day. I was almost recovered by then and ready for more but sadly nightfall came too soon. Bah!

No joke. This Walkalator seemed to go on forever. Not funny when you’re ascending uphill cos coming down is by foot.

As the streets started to empty, we headed back to the hotel.

Tired , yet excited at the same time of what awaits us in the remaining 24 hours we had.

More in the Part 2!

Whisk @ Empire Gallery. A cafe like home :)

(Another detour from the supposedly HK adventure blogpost. Soon i promise!)

So we’ve all now heard of Empire Gallery. The new neighbour mall in Subang Jaya. The one who’s causing traffic to build up at the section opposite my house. Not that it matters since im just within walking distance. I have yet to conclude what I think about the place though. Subang Parade next door, the mall i  grew up with all my life is still a winner in my eyes. Although Empire spots more flashy retail outlets. But so does the other major malls too.

What this place has to offer the residents of Subang Jaya however, is an awesome small lil cafe tucked at the basement level of Empire. Next to Jaya Grocer.

Whisk.

Yes…Whisk. Finally, a cafe worthy of the residents surrounding it. There’s too many starbucks and coffee bean which doubles up as a semi-cybercafe at anytime of the day taking away the essence of what a cafe should be.

Whisk is boutique. An essence of what a cafe should be. The placement of things in it, the environment, the scent, the music and its small sized setup makes it perfect. I’m just ecstatic. And its opposite my house! Some people told me ‘what i dont like is cannot smoke..so i wont go’. In my head, ‘okay..you can go to starbucks, mamak or coffeebean. Your loss. Not mine.’ :P

I’m always in search of a good latte and Whisk cuts it perfect. What surprised me was the Mochacinno con la Nutella. I’m just blown away by it. Not forgetting the macarons which they’ve become so popular for. :)

Okay peeps. Time for pics. They dont do the place justice. Go visit!

Thats a wrap peeps!.

Now. GO VISIT. haha!

Bye!

Special thanks to Allyssa Kwan for telling me about this joint. Luv ya heaps babe :) …this line is pink just for you.

China Court Restaurant @ Subang Avenue

Last Friday, took me old folks and grandma to China Court Restaurant for lunch. Been hearing good reviews from a friend so okay-lah…decided to give it a shot.

My verdict?: Totally Impressed!

This restaurant is owned by a HongKong eatery group. An estimate of rm10mil was invested into running this joint and some ingredients, ie, the rice for the dumpling are flown in from HK as well. The food is fine, service is good (but if u go on mothers day, fathers day, whatever happening day then sorry lah…as with other places OK), and the private dining rooms are better designed than any other chinese restaurants i’ve seen.

The waiters/waitresses that serve the private rooms use a separate door as not to disturb the guests. Well thought i must say.

Of all the 10 dishes we ordered, none was disappointing. I would go back there again and again.

And its opposite my house. Yay! :)

OK. Picture time. Enjoy!

The Captain was nice enough to take us on a short tour of the private dining rooms available. Various sizes. Pics are of the smallest and the biggest. :)

*BURP*… hungry? interested? You now got a place to go this weekend.

Have a great week!
