Autodetailer…show car Detailing experts!

Sorry for this delayed post…:P

About a month back, Darren from Autodetailer invited me for his new garage/studio’s open day. Such a treat considering that i wasnt anybody in any industry so thanks heaps Darren! :D .

I am going to conclude straight away that this new 12,000sqf facility is truly the state-of-the-art in auto detailing in Malaysia. The amount of detail and effort poured into making this place is highly commendable. The whole place is has really been given a lot of thought in terms of space planning aesthetic and functionality. Darren does really love this work. I can he has passion when he brought he about to tour the new joint.

The garage is broken down into several several different areas. The first being the entrance of course. I love the contrast of how its dark at the entrance focusing only on the logo, and then as u walk into the facility, its all bright and professional looking.

(Just to note, some areas couldnt be photographed due to confidentiality reasons)

The overall theme of this garage would be a modern-urban-industrial setup. You can feel it the moment you step into it. Its how a rustic, cool looking garage should be. It my favourite interior treatment too ;)

As I walked into the garage I get this sense of professionalism surrounding the whole place. I was greeted by Darren’s wife (sorry i suddenly forgot her name!) who was really warm and accomodating and then she looked for Darren for me. And then my tour of the facility began. Awesomeness!

This is the general work area for cars to be detailed. The lighting design in this facility is done by one of the best in Malaysia. The lighting here, although looks normal, simulates daylight on the outside. Its how you will see your car when its on the road. Also, cars detailed in this environment, coupled with the technology and professionalism are bound to be immaculate.

Next to the GT-R, i saw a BMW Boxer Cup. There are only two of these in Malaysia. And this belongs to a mutual friend of ours ;)

Fancy seeing an old skool Alfa in the barracks. I must say, the job done on it made the car flawless looking.

Like the logo? Its designed by a pro in the States. :)

A window from the office looking out. Also a display of the equipments used.

With those car lifts, interior detailing can now be done at eye level. No need to squat and sit on the floor anymore i guess. Hehe…

Right in your face! :P

The most powerful street-legal Lotus money can buy. I know this car too well and its full of ‘authority’ on the road and track!

A feature wall displaying some kick-ass paint for your cars if you’re thinking of a paint job.

What do we have here? I’d like to call this the Black Room. Its a room that simulates street lights. Cars are put here to see how their cars would look like at night under street lighting.

Dont the cars in there look mean? Fierce beasts kept behind bars…heh heh :P

Ya gotta remove ur shoes to access this area.

Whats beyond this Black Room is my highlight of the garage.

The photostudio. Where all of Darren’s work come to life.

Darren made me shoot the next few photos with ONLY my iPhone and UNEDITED. The lighting in this room is really that good and nothing short of brilliant!

AMAZING RIGHT? :p

Lighting is damn best OK..OMG.

While i was still AWE-ing over the photoroom, the final section of the tour was the office.

I really love how industrial the office entrance looks. :D

Bright on the outside, dark on the inside. Cozy feeling in the office cum office waiting area.

That concrete table, was built first before anything else cos it was attached to the floor. The wooden flooring was built around it later. How cool is that!

Before I left, how could I not take a picture with the host?

Thanks Darren for the invite. It was an amazing insight and you have an amazing place. I hope you keep pushing your industry to its limit and continue to set the benchmark in autodetailing.

Cheers mate!

The Ferrari Zobin Concept

This is a reblog about Ferrari Zobin Concept.

An interesting imagination of Iranian engineer Siamak Ruhi Dehkordi.

I hope it becomes a reality one day. C’mon Maranello…you know you want it too. :)

‘It can be argued that Ferrari is known for living out on the styling edge and for staying too true to its own designs. Witness the wild Enzo supercar and compare that to the new California. The former is an F1 car with an enclosed body and the latter has been called a sell-out Ferrari for the masses. As such, we’re always interested in new takes on the Ferrari design ethos, and we particularly like this concept called the Zobin by Iranian engineer Siamak Ruhi Dehkordi. The rear end looks cribbed from the one-off P4/5 produced by Pininfarina, but the front end places the Enzo’s F1-inspired nose amidst the contortions of a metal band that swoops around to create both the front spoiler and front fenders, while still maintaining an open-wheel F1 look. The headlights are suspended from the metal band and seem to float beside center fuselage. This is a single-seater concept that’s powered by a fictional engine of unknown cylinder count and displacement located amidship, but we’re more interested in the design itself that we think is both edgy and honors those Ferraris that have come before it.’

Thanks to Autoblog for the content and pictures.

Anyone wants one? :P

My 10 picks from Geneva MotorShow 2010 :)

Again another post about my interest in automotive. :P

Geneva Motor Show 2010 is underway, all concepts have been revealed (i hope) and i’ve seen them. Some irks me, some fairly interest me, and the ones that im gonna post here really caught my attention.

And i’m gonna tell you why too. :)

First up, (as in my last post on Porschematics) :

Porsche 918 Spyder Concept.

A performance hybrid that looks as good as it goes.

This is the future of motoring.

Audi A1

Audi’s challenger in the compact car segment. It looks good and we dont have to reply on Minis anymore for a small luxury car that packs punches. This is the new hamster on steriods. ;)

Lamborghini Gallardo LP-570 Superleggera

I’m a huge fan of the Gallardo. The lines on this beauty is amazing and the car is so well proportioned in terms of design. And now, with with Lp-570, i think its the most beautiful sports car at the moment. I’d take it in green thank you. And let people be green with envy. :)

Koniegsegg Agera

Not because its one of the most powerful supercars out there.

Not because only a few lucky individuals would be able to own it.

But because we will almost never see it on the roads.

2011 Lotus Elise

Those who know me will know I’m Lotus crazy. Its probably the only sports car that will feel like its an extended part of your body while u’re driving it. Its a testament of man and machine becoming one on the road.

And this new version looks deliciously sexy. :p

Bugatti Grand Sport in Carbon Fibre

The Veyron would probably be every motorhead’s dream to have in their garage. Not a new supercar in the playing field.

But this beast looks like an orgy of carbon fibre. I cant imagine that power, now in a ultra lightweight body.

Given wings, im sure this car will fly.

Literally.

Peugeot SR1 Concept

Peugeot. Known for designing cars a bit out of the norm and with loud design cues.

This SR1 softens the look of the Peugeot cars we have out there today. I love it.

Alluring, sexy, smooth, refined…it goes on.

I hope this is new face of Peugeot.

Citroen Survolt

All i’m gonna say is… OMFG, can you believe this is by Citroen?!

I dont know about you, but i sure as well cant stop looking at it! :D

Bertone Pandion for Alfa Romeo

Need I say more? True to Bertone’s philosophy of a low ride and long body. But the doors on the Pandion is just wicked! And the fins at the back reminds me of Transformers.

Could this be Alfa Romeo’s new face?

The Pandion is a beautiful mess.

Volkswagen Polo Gti

I saved this for last. I’m a sucker for hot hatches. The previous Polo Gti i liked a lot.

This one i LOVE.

DrewSmith said in his opinion, was the best looking at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009.

I can see why. Its the perfect all rounder.

Unlike the cars that i’ve mentioned, this one is attainable.

And I want it. Seriously.

Porsche-matics : PIP = P-918-SC

So many supercar manufacturers are taking their best shot at producing a performance hybrid. I havent given any of those much attention until i saw This.

Yes… THIS.

PIP: Porsche Intelligent Performance.

And its creation : Porsche 918 Sypder Concept.

Although a concept, but now i finally feel the future of motoring is near. Very near.

(News source and photos from Autoblog)

Here you go, have your cake and eat it too. Porsche is looking to prove that the best of both worlds don’t have to be mutually exclusive with the 918 Spyder concept scheduled to debut tomorrow at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Looking a bit like a Carrera GT evolved, the 918 Spyder is powered by both a 500-horsepower V8 and a pair of electric motors (one for each axle) producing an additional 218 hp or 160kW. At full gallop, the concept can theoretically reach 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and nip 198 mph on the high end. On the flip side, Porsche says it can also achieve 78 miles per gallon and emit just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

How does a supercar have such range? Well, the 918 Spyder concept is a parallel hybrid just like your mom’s Prius (well not just like). That means the two powertrains, gas and electric, can operate together or separately to motivate the wheels into motion. There are no less than four modes that configure the powertrains for anything from maximum efficiency to maximum performance and everything in between. The E-Drive mode means pure electric power, and the car can reportedly last up to 16 miles on electrons alone. Next up is Hybrid mode, which is just what it sounds like and would probably be the mode for everyday around town driving. The Sport Hybrid mode again uses both powertrains, but tips the needle a bit more towards performance with most power reaching the rear wheels. Finally, the Race Hybrid mode means all systems are go for the lowest lap times possible (Porsche says it can do the Nordschleife in less than 7:30 minutes). There’s an even a push-to-pass button (if only it were that easy) that adds a bit of E-boost on the straights and, of course, regenerative braking is present and accounted for.

Lastly, take a good look at the interior because Porsche says it offers a glimpse at future interiors from the automaker. Sounds good enough to buy so far, right? Too bad, because it’s just a concept.

As the 2010 Geneva Motorshow is about to begin, I cant wait to see actual photos of this baby.

This year is gonna be a great year for the future of automobiles.

Enjoy the video and a pics at the end!

Where the Cup260 belongs…at the Sepang Circuit.

About a month back, Dr. Seow aka The Stig (haha) asked me to tag along for a Sepang Track Day outing. He had finally run in this Lotus Cup260 and was about to let it loose on track. There was only one way of obliging to that invitation.

To be a passenger. And pictures dont do the experience justice. The sound of the car was beautiful at 8500rpm. And we went sideways in style too.

There is only ONE Cup260 in Malaysia. And I had the experience of riding in it. I hope i get to drive it someday.

Here are some pics for that day. I will own a Lotus someday. I promise.
