Levain Boulangerie : a pastry affair…

Levain Boulangerie Patisserie

This pleasant bakery has probably been around for quite sometime. Its a late discovery by me but better late than never :)

I’m a huge fan of bread. I love bread and when Rita suggested for us to go here, there is now way i could say no. Although a bigger group would be better cos there is just too many things on display to try. And there is only so much bread one can eat. So, after this visit, i did go back again 2 weeks later with mom on tow :P

Levain is slightly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, along Jalan Delima, Off Jln Imbi (beside Fukuya japanese rest.). Housed in a bungalow setup with both indoor and out door sitting.

All I can say is, this place makes non-bread lover irresistible to bread. Rita is a non-bread lover and she went nutters when we got there. Bread and pastry aside, Levain has got more to offer ie, pasta, soup, salads…etc.

One feature that struck me is that they had a stone oven…how cool is that. And in KL!

The mushroom soup with the croissant is a FANTASTIC COMBO.  Must try!…

Alright, enuff words….on with the pics.

Make sure you go earlier on weekends although this place opens from 8am to 8pm. A slight warning though, Levain is perpetually crowded on Sundays :D

Enjoy!

Went to Pavilion after Levain…and saw the storm clouds brewing and thought the colours of the sky was pretty nice. :)

Enjoy the weekend!

Autodetailer…show car Detailing experts!

Sorry for this delayed post…:P

About a month back, Darren from Autodetailer invited me for his new garage/studio’s open day. Such a treat considering that i wasnt anybody in any industry so thanks heaps Darren! :D .

I am going to conclude straight away that this new 12,000sqf facility is truly the state-of-the-art in auto detailing in Malaysia. The amount of detail and effort poured into making this place is highly commendable. The whole place is has really been given a lot of thought in terms of space planning aesthetic and functionality. Darren does really love this work. I can he has passion when he brought he about to tour the new joint.

The garage is broken down into several several different areas. The first being the entrance of course. I love the contrast of how its dark at the entrance focusing only on the logo, and then as u walk into the facility, its all bright and professional looking.

(Just to note, some areas couldnt be photographed due to confidentiality reasons)

The overall theme of this garage would be a modern-urban-industrial setup. You can feel it the moment you step into it. Its how a rustic, cool looking garage should be. It my favourite interior treatment too ;)

As I walked into the garage I get this sense of professionalism surrounding the whole place. I was greeted by Darren’s wife (sorry i suddenly forgot her name!) who was really warm and accomodating and then she looked for Darren for me. And then my tour of the facility began. Awesomeness!

This is the general work area for cars to be detailed. The lighting design in this facility is done by one of the best in Malaysia. The lighting here, although looks normal, simulates daylight on the outside. Its how you will see your car when its on the road. Also, cars detailed in this environment, coupled with the technology and professionalism are bound to be immaculate.

Next to the GT-R, i saw a BMW Boxer Cup. There are only two of these in Malaysia. And this belongs to a mutual friend of ours ;)

Fancy seeing an old skool Alfa in the barracks. I must say, the job done on it made the car flawless looking.

Like the logo? Its designed by a pro in the States. :)

A window from the office looking out. Also a display of the equipments used.

With those car lifts, interior detailing can now be done at eye level. No need to squat and sit on the floor anymore i guess. Hehe…

Right in your face! :P

The most powerful street-legal Lotus money can buy. I know this car too well and its full of ‘authority’ on the road and track!

A feature wall displaying some kick-ass paint for your cars if you’re thinking of a paint job.

What do we have here? I’d like to call this the Black Room. Its a room that simulates street lights. Cars are put here to see how their cars would look like at night under street lighting.

Dont the cars in there look mean? Fierce beasts kept behind bars…heh heh :P

Ya gotta remove ur shoes to access this area.

Whats beyond this Black Room is my highlight of the garage.

The photostudio. Where all of Darren’s work come to life.

Darren made me shoot the next few photos with ONLY my iPhone and UNEDITED. The lighting in this room is really that good and nothing short of brilliant!

AMAZING RIGHT? :p

Lighting is damn best OK..OMG.

While i was still AWE-ing over the photoroom, the final section of the tour was the office.

I really love how industrial the office entrance looks. :D

Bright on the outside, dark on the inside. Cozy feeling in the office cum office waiting area.

That concrete table, was built first before anything else cos it was attached to the floor. The wooden flooring was built around it later. How cool is that!

Before I left, how could I not take a picture with the host?

Thanks Darren for the invite. It was an amazing insight and you have an amazing place. I hope you keep pushing your industry to its limit and continue to set the benchmark in autodetailing.

Cheers mate!

Dinner?…Coliseum?…Okay!

Last weekend of Sept,  mom said ‘heyyy..since you’re gonna pick Rita from work tomorrow, lets go together. ‘

Curious, i asked ‘Why?…’

Mom: ‘We go for dinner lah….go Coliseum…okay or not?…want or not?’

Could not have come at a better time since Rita and I both thought about it before, just never  got to it cos we were so busy.

And finally we did, and with the ‘generation’ that used to have their special dinner dates there. We picked her from KLCC and off we went.

For those who dont already know, Coliseum was the place to be back in its heydays. Where the ang mohs will frequent and people will go ‘wah..’ if you’re going there for dinner.

Today, it doesnt look fancy or anything but the prehistoric building that it resides in still gives you that nostalgic feeling that it was once something before.

I havent been there in a long while. So it was nice to have dinner with just mom, dad and rita. :)

Dinner was simple, and my parents talked about their history there. It was nice listening to old folks talk about their dating days sometimes. :P

Nothing like old skool bread, butter and simple onion soup. :)

One of the appetizers was this sauteed sausages with onions and chilli. A simple dish but they do it so well. Rita lovesss this.

I think mom loved it too cos she cooked it a week after we had it. :D

They have coat racks in this joint..

Mom & Dad and me had this..hehe

Guess who had this? :P

They still had those really old doors and grilles. Real old skool…

Some pics of the two generations before leaving. :)

We were told to exit at the side door. As we exited, we saw this.

I cant believe fire escape routes of the theatre  used to look like this. :)

And that concludes a short trip down memory lane.

Have fun folks!

A Phuket Experience…

Back in August, for the gf’s bday, we went for a getaway at one of the most popular tourist islands in the world.

Phuket, Thailand.

As it was both our first time, we chose to be slightly further away from the happening areas of Patong as we wanted a more relaxing trip. So we opted for Karon Beach. Which we have come to adore.

A friend recommend us Diamond Cottage & Spa Resort and said its within walking distance to beach, quiet, convenient to shops and rooms are pretty good too.

We opted for the room with ‘pool access’ and there wasnt a single drop of regret. Besides staying in a villa with a pool, this is the only way to go if you’re gonna be in a hotel room on an island.

Here’s are snippets of the room before i continue this blogpost later!

Continue this post later peeps!

Have a great one!

Cheers…:)
